The Duty of Diligence

   The Duty of Diligence
( or When the People do not pay attention)
April 9, 2015

Psalms 119:4  Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

Recently I was watching one of my favorite western TV shows, The Rifleman. It was an episode with a story about a prison wagon that came through the mythical town of North Fork, New Mexico. As the storyline developed the prisoners aboard the wagon managed to escape and take a couple of hostages. The embittered leader of the prisoners used the hostages to compel a showdown fight with the shows star character, Lucas McCain.
Well, to make a long story short, Lucas managed to defeat the rebel in a fistfight, and then he and the sheriff killed off the remaining prisoners in a gunfight. Thus the town of North Fork was saved from evil, and life in North Fork returned to its simple routines and secure sense of happiness.

As the story ends, there is a scene on the front-porch of the McCain ranch house, and Lucas young son Mark poses the following question to his Father. "Was it be possible for the escaped prisoners to simply take over the whole town?" "Could they have imposed their will and power over all the people, and thus changed everyone's life?" Could they have took our town?
Lucas McCain then replied to Mark, "son, if the good people of the town do not keep watch, evil men can take over the town." That is why it is imperative for the good citizens of America to be diligent, and involved in the affairs of the town.

The founding documents of our country were written by very intelligent men, who were well acquainted with the history of human experiment at governance. The original intent by our founders was to establish a government of the people, for the people, and by the people, and not the government itself. In fact, our Constitution was designed to keep the government from becoming too big. But, unfortunately over time, it was the American people, who, became “less vigilant in terms of their responsibility of paying attention to their own government. We have raised generations of citizens that are not correctly informed, nor educated in the genuine understanding about what kind of government we inherited, and in what its duties really are. The Founders said if we reach the point where people are not well-informed, the government would simply be changed into a monstrosity too big and powerful for the good of the people.

Sadly, we in America have reached that point in time. The "CHANGE" that many Americans were wooed with in the recent past has not brought about a change for the better, but a change from something good to something our forefathers would detest. We have abandoned our roots. We have become more like the ungodly nations of the world. The following scripture verses reveal the facts about the "duty of diligence", and the ramifications of allowing the wrong kinds of "change" that can befall a people that are asleep at the wheel.

Luke 12:39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

Luke 11:21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:

Mark 3:27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

2 Pet 1:10   Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Deuteronomy 28:1  And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

America has been changed from a Christian nation, into a nation which is growing intensely intolerant of Christian precepts! Our leaders  have commandeered our republic and transformed our nations into a secular diverse state. Yes, just like in the old Rifleman episode in North Fork, evil men have seduced our populace and taken over the country and imposed their will on the people! They have taken our town, because we have not kept up the diligent watch over our God-given nation.
