  • Why Does God Allow Bad Things to Happen to Good People?

Many people ask the question, "why does God allow bad things to happen to good people." The short answer is we live in a world that is by nature given to a state of pain and suffering, even death. It is simply the nature of this present fallen world, a world that is in total rebellion against the God that made it! And lest we forget, the world the Creator brought into existence was a good world; and a world devoid of pain and suffering. It is surreal that we even dare ask of God why bad things happen to us!
The very proposition of this question is presumptuous. Why does anyone believe that they are good? By what standard of measure do we use to think that we are good, and should be exempt from bad things happening to us? We must remember that here are no “good people”, in the absolute sense of the word. All of us are tainted by & infected with sin.

Mark 10:18  And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

While Bad things may happen to good people in this world, this world is not the FINAL outcomeGod sometimes uses the bad things for an ultimate, eternal good. “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”
Bad things may happen to good people, but those bad things equip believers for a deeper ministry. God comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ”. Those with the battle scars of bad experiences in this world are often better equipped to help those going through the bad things.
Bad things will happen to good people and to all people, as long as we are in this world; but the worst things happened to the very best Person (the only good one) that ever lived. Jesus was the only truly Righteous One, yet He suffered far more than we can even imagine, and endured that suffering on our behalf, in order to ransom us into a Good World

God allows all things to happen for a reason. Whether or not we understand His reasons, we must remember that God is good, just, loving, & merciful.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Sometimes, in a Fallen World, bad things will happen to us that we simply cannot understand.
Unfortunately, oftentimes, people query as to "why God allows bad things to happen to people, whether good or bad; but they fail to place the blame on our adversary, the Devil, who is actually seeking to destroy all of us! Were it not for the Love of God, only Bad Things would ever happen to anyone! Thank God for the Good!

Instead of doubting God’s goodness, or wondering why bad things happen to us; our reaction should always be to trust Him

And one final point; Should God prevent Bad things from happening to Good people, while allowing Bad things to happen only to Bad people? That isn’t a God of Love, is it? I prefer the God who Loved us while we were yet sinners!

(Romans 5:8) But God commended his love toward us, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us!

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart & lean not on your own understanding;
Romans 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

I Peter 3:12-13 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. 13. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
