The Art of Deception! Deceiving and Being Deceived
Why is Lying so Pervasive Today? It seems to me like everyone of any notoriety is routinely caught in a lie, but are never held accountable for their lies. We even take lying from our politicians for granted, as though it is simply practical for them to lie.
We live in a world today of Fake News and fact checkers! There is in effect, an ongoing societal power struggle over authoritative information. It is in essence, the old adage of the “power of the pen is mightier than the sword.”
But, whereas we are definitely living in the Last Days; we need to better understand how Lying and Deception play a pivotal role in the affairs of todays terminal generation. In other words, he who controls the news/information controls the people!
II Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
I remember a phrase my Dad used to say a lot: “I’d rather a man slap me in the face than to lie to me.” Thus, I always made it a point as a youngster to never lie to my Father; because I knew if I lied to him, I was sure to get more than just a face slapping. In short, I developed a love of the Truth!
Those days when truthfulness and honesty were ingrained in our communal character were a wonderful time to live. A mans word was effectively his bond!
The Bible is perfectly clear that lying is a sin and very displeasing to God. In fact; it was one of the six sins that God hates most. (Proverbs 6:16)
Unfortunately, the characteristic for Lying comes naturally to all human beings. Lying is a sinful trait that we all inherited from the Father of Lies, Satan himself. We learned of the sinister power of lying from him, and like him, we have also managed to master the “art of deception!” (John 8:44)
Lying and Deception go hand-in-hand. Lying stems from the mind of man in a premeditated plot to deceive!
Lying is the essence of making a false statement to another person with the mental intention of convincing another person that statements of lies are in fact true. Therefore; a planned deception is at the root of all lying.
Behavioral researchers have surmised that lying is as old as language itself. Their conclusions in fact line up squarely with the Genesis account of the original Big Lie; by the Big Liar, as was told to Adam and Eve, who in turn then lied to God, when he inquired of them about why they had suddenly become naked.
Lying was the first “weapon of choice” for Satan after he launched his War in Heaven. His lies in the Garden made the whole human race complicit in his rebellion. Thus, Lying has been a common “tool of convenience” for evil men ever since!
Deceiving And Being Deceived
In fact, most Evil men long ago discovered and came to prefer Lying over physical violence as a means of gaining control over others. All Power hungry leaders and politicians have mastered the “art of deception,” for their own personal gain.
Propaganda is information based upon a biased point of view, shared within an orchestrated plot to mislead people and help to facilitate a desired agenda. The manufacturing and distribution of Propaganda is a professional art. It’s sole intent is to Deceive! Thus the distributors of propaganda are in essence “professional liars!”
In today’s world, we have witnessed the rise of professional liars being in league with powerful elitists to deceive the nations in their attempt to build a New World Order.
This is the very scenario that II Timothy 3:13 was forecasting! Today, “Evil men” have occupied the worlds positions of power, and being Deceived, they in turn are using propagandists to Deceive the whole world; for the intent of building their hope of a better world, a world totally devoid of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
The Coming Great Deceiver
II Thessalonians 2:9-11 Even him, (Antichrist) whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10. And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.
These verses of Paul, written to the Christians at Thessaloniki, vividly describe the “conspiracy of Deception” the world is already beginning to encounter via the schemes of today’s Evil Men!
Point # 1 The coming great Deceiver (Antichrist) will be uniquely empowered by the culmination of the “Lying wonders” that have promoted him to power.
Point # 2 The Antichrist will be a craft master of Deception and employ “spirits of deception” to promote himself and to mock righteousness.
Point # 3 Many people will be susceptible to the propaganda of the Antichrist and the spirits of deception because they do not possess a “Love for the Truth!”
It is only by having an inquiring mind to search for the Truth that enables people to avoid being deceived! It has often been said that “there is none so blind as those who will not see.” It is so true. Therefore, the blind often lead the blind!
Point # 4 The world is being “set up” for a really “Big Lie!” The Bible calls it a “strong delusion.” It will be the greatest deception perpetrated upon mankind since Satan’s original lie in the Garden.
The “strong delusion” is permitted by God to be perpetrated upon the world by the Antichrist because the Big Lie is in essence a Lie Detector test for humanity!
Jesus Christ came into this world to bear witness unto the Truth. (John 18:37) Jesus also further proclaimed that he was the Truth! Jesus came also to be a “Light” to the world to expose to the people of the world the danger of Deception and in believing Lies.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
In very simple terms; All Lies promote darkness and enslaves people! But the light of the Truth sets people free!
In Matthew twenty-four and verse eleven; Jesus warned us about Deceivers in the Last Days. He cautioned us that the deceivers of that time would be so clever in performing their “lying wonders” that they would be able to Deceive many people.
II John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
But we as Christians need not be confused or dismayed by the cunning craftiness of modern day deceivers. We are the children of Light, and not children of the dark. (I Thess. 1:4-5)
Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, (propaganda) whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
